Location: Winchendon is located in north-central Massachusetts about 10 minutes from the southern New Hampshire border, 1 1/2 hours from Boston and 4+ hours from New York City.
Airports: The closest airport, Manchester, NH is about 50 minutes from Winchendon. Manchester is serviced by US Airways, United, Continental, Northwest and SouthWest. Boston’s Logan Airport and Bradley Airport just north of Hartford in Windsor, CT are serviced by all major airlines.
Car Rentals: Avis, Hertz, Thrifty, Enterprise, Sears/Budget and National are available at Manchester; virtually all rental companies are available at Logan and Bradley.
Arrival/Departure: Registration will take place Sunday, August 19 from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Winchendon School. Arrangements can be made for late arrivals. Departure will be after breakfast on the morning of Sunday, August 26
The Winchendon School – Lodging and Facilities: Most rooms are connecting singles with a shared bath (two bedrooms with a bath between them), and include bed linens, one blanket and towels.
The Winchendon School – Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided each day by the school’s chef and staff (included in the tuition), with breakfast only being served on the day of departure, Sunday, August 26. There is no reduction in the tuition if students choose to dine off campus.
Day and Evening Activities (other than 5 lessons and unlimited practice time included in the tuition) Lectures and classes (theory and chord structure); musicianship (memorization, technique, practice tips, overcoming performance anxiety, improvisation); classical ensemble playing; open jam sessions; student salons; a faculty recital; a student recital (participation is optional, but encouraged); additional classes/lectures to be added, subject to change; a welcoming reception and dinner at the school; a farewell dinner on Saturday at the home of Hope and Bob Pettegrew and the chance to enjoy other local cultural events. New student orientation at registration time (Sunday, August 19). Optional: an evening at the Peterborough Players (not included in the tuition) — one of the country’s oldest, leading professional summer stock theatres. Shopping in nearby Peterborough and Keene, NH. NOTE: the school has an outdoor swimming pool, 6 tennis courts, a gymnasium and its own 18-hole golf course.
What To Bring: Music you wish to learn or continue practicing; casual clothing that will accommodate daytime temperatures of 60 to 85+ degrees, as well as cooler evenings; any gear you wish for hiking, golfing, tennis, swimming or other activities.

If an out-of-town student elects to stay off campus, that person may do so at his or her own additional expense. He or she will still be charged the “Resident Students” fee.
Arrival Package: upon arrival you will be given a package of additional materials, including a week-long schedule of instruction and campus practice locations; room and meal arrangements; local area information. Those new to Piano’Scape will receive orientation at registration time. During the week, Hope Pettegrew will be available to assist you with whatever additional arrangements or information you may need at 603/525-4920.
